REVIEW OF VIRTUAL GAME - SPLINTER CELL

'Sam fisher is a changed man now,' or so does the game help portrait him. The protagonist of the splinter cell series has underwent some serious changes, since as he was seen during in the first installment to the game that was released 7years ago. Back then, Sam fisher was the highly trained black-op agent who worked with the NSA (National Security Agency). The job that he carried while relating with the NSA was totally under the guise of top most secrecy, and in most of the scenarios was humbly marked, to be 'out-and-out risky.

No more does he serves the NSA, but now has retired himself from the frisky business of the agency. In 'Splinter cell - Conviction,' you get to see an unmasked, angry, teeth grating fisher, doing what he does best - 'taking down bad guys with his super cool stealthy moves'. The sole aim for Sam fisher, in conviction, is to search for the trail of the murderer that was responsible for his daughter's death. He gets all the requisite help from his former friends at the agency, leading him knee deep into some kind of 'set-up' conspiracy.

After a quick tutorial that follows, players directly get pushed into the scene of action. The game doesn't have any of the cut-scenes that typically follow in most of the games. Instead, the levels load during the ongoing action, allowing for a smooth, non interrupted, continuous gameplay. This feature actually renders the game immersive, and most players will find themselves zipping form level-to-level without even realizing that they have almost made their way to the end of the game. The gameplay is superbly fast and excitingly thrilling.

Splinter cell series is heavily based on the use of stealth. Any assassinating move, done by Sam Fisher in the game, is carried out in total anonymity of stealthy covers spread across the regions of the game. Players have to take advantage of every of the other environmental objects, to wade their way past the obstructing guards, unnoticed and also unharmed! Conviction makes use of visual cues to keep the players from losing on their stealth cover. This is prominently done by denoting a quick color change system. "Like wise when you move into a cover of darkness and are no longer detectable, the colors start to bleed and the entire scene turns black & white. The multitudes of colors on the screen return to normalcy as soon as you expose Sam Fisher to the mercy of the lights. This change to the colorful environment helps in strategizing any particular moves to progress within the game.

Stealth in the form of 'light and shadows' isn't the only thing to the game system that helps Fisher to stay alive; the other is the massive cover system. A matter of flicking the right control button and Fisher covers himself behind any of the marked object. On engaging you do not find yourself sticking helplessly onto the cover, but as you release the button, fisher can be moved freely along his course of action. There is no hindrance to his immediate movements and it all works so flawlessly.

In 'Conviction,' Fisher has decided to be the killer on the prowl. He now believes in stalking the enemy and wiping them out with a certain killer vengeance. To better facilitate him in his execution, both weapon and hand to hand combat has been atrociously put to use here. Weapon aiming has also spruced up giving an overall swift control to execute a perfect aim. The slow motion scene that gets played in real time during the many, Hand to hand combat is a spectacular visual treat while playing. In fact it is so much interesting to watch the gory execution that players are actually encouraged, by this, to try and utilize the hundreds of such moves during the course of the gameplay.

Splinter cell conviction has been treated fairly well with the visuals and sounds that help's to create the best possible immersive experience for the gamers. All in all Conviction cannot be termed a part of the Splinter cell series of games, as it renders itself to be a totally new game. It is a hard mix of old world stealth combat system and the highly enjoyable fast paced third person shooters. Try this game if you want to experience the true taste of both these genres.
