PICTIONARY RULES
Pictionary has a colorful game board, a one-minute timer, and a pack of cards that contain words, a die, markers, category cards, pencils and notepads. There are certain rules of the game that one needs to follow. As it is a drawing game and then guessing the word through the sketch, one is not allowed to mark any kind of symbol or number and absolutely no letter in the picture. There are a number of squares and once you begin from the first square the aim of the game is to reach the last square before your opponent does. The marker should belong to each team and each team must consist of two or more players. Each would have a pencil, a notepad and a category card.
The categories include P, A, O, D and AP. P is a person, place or animal. A is action while O is an object. D relates to a difficult word. These could be challenging words. AP is an ‘all play’ category where the word can be any type of word. Once the game begins, one person from the first team has to pick a card from the deck and that person has exactly five seconds to view his/her word. They then start sketching the word in the way that it becomes easier for the other team members to guess the correct word. While the person is drawing, the minute timer is running and the team has one minute to score that point. The picturist is not allowed to use any kind of verbal communication or physical gestures while sketching. During this time if the team members guess the word correctly, they move ahead with another chance, now picking another card. However the picturist changes and each team member gets a chance to draw once. However if the time is up or the members are not able to guess the word correctly the chance obviously passes to the second team. As long as a team is not able to guess the word correctly, they cannot move squares.
In All Play, all the teams get a chance to guess the word correctly. All the picturists of each team can see the word and then draw to their respective teams. One must try and reach the final all play squares to win the title of Pictionary champion. With lesser teams the game becomes interesting and more fun. However, any number of teams can play Pictionary at the same time.
