ORIGIN OF NINE MENS MORRIS
The fun in trying to out-wit each other at anything is the greatest pleasurable sin in the whole of this world. We are so programmed that we compete at every point of our day to day things, and the zeal to win seems the ultimate goal. To fulfill this very purpose without much of blood shed, games those simulated that very excitement of a competition were started being invented. This is one such game of fury that utilizes the actual use of fists (with open fingers) to move the pieces on and around the board. ‘Nine Men Morris’ was developed as one of the ancient board type of games. It is ancient due to the finding of its been played on certain walls dated back to era belonging to the Roman, the Egyptian and some of the English building, dated as far as back in 1200 BC. It was even found in the choir stalls of old English cathedral. The game still continues to be played all over the world. There are three versions to this and the famous of them being ‘tic-tac-toe.’
