GAME OF LIFE RULES
The Game of Life is an exciting journey through life, giving each member of the family a unique opportunity to showcase his skill, luck and ability to handle risk. It is a classic family game that includes a 3-D game board with Education, Professions, Business, Marriage, Children, Status Symbols and Stock Exchange.
A game played by two to six players, the main objective is to collect money and LIFE tiles and gain the highest dollar amount at the conclusion of the game. The goal is thus to dodge bad luck and earn money. The game consists of LIFE Tiles, Cards, Insurance Policies and Bank Loans, Money, Cards and pegs.
All players spin the wheel and the person spinning the highest plays first. Once you spin the wheel, you move forward as per the count numbered on it. On your first turn, you have to decide whether to start college or to take up a career. While college offers you more career options and higher salary, it also puts you in debt.
As you move your car along the board, you will come across several colored spaces. Here is what the colors mean:
Most spaces are orange, wherein you must follow the directions given. Blue spaces are optional in that you can follow directions only if you want to. Green Spaces are Paydays and are ones you want to land on to earn money. Red spaces denote major life changing events like getting married, graduating, retiring, buying a home and so on.
Life Spaces show pictures of Life and are all about family activities, community service and good deeds.
Career spaces symbols match those on the nine career cards and players earn money from opponents who land on their career spaces.
The other spaces include Taxes Due Spaces, which require you to pay taxes, and the Special Police Officer Rule.
Since the game mimics real life situations, you can change careers, get fired, go to night school, get married, have babies, buy a house, get insurance and invest in stocks. You can even borrow loans from the bank if so required. The loans have to be repaid when you retire or during any turn before then.
Once you have reached the retirement space, stop and do the following:
Repay all outstanding loans,
Place your Career Card, Salary Card, Insurance Policies and House Deed out of play.
If you are cash rich, you can stay at the Millionaire Estates and if not retire at the Countryside Acres.
Wherever you decide to retire, wait there until all other players have also reached the retirement stage.
After all players have retired, everyone at Millionaire Estates counts their money. The richest player takes the 4 LIFE Tiles at Millionaire Estates.
Next, all players add up the dollar amounts shown on their tiles. All players then count their money, and add the two figures together - LIFE Tile value and cash value. The player with the highest dollar amount wins.
