CARCASSONNE VARIATIONS
Ever since the game was published in the year 2000, it has witnessed various expansions and variations. Some of the variations of the game include versions such as Inns and Cathedrals or The Expansion, Builders and Traders, River II, The Princess and the Dragon, and King and Scout. Recently, two new variations have arrived in the market. These two new games are known as The Tower and Big Box Set.
Inns and Cathedral or The Expansion is the original Carcassonne with an addition of some new tiles and a new figure to the game. This new figure introduced in the game can be counted as two followers. The special tiles added to this variation, Inns and Cathedrals can be used by the players to enhance the value of the cities and the roads. The tiles can be placed as parts of the roads and the cities. However, there is a condition for the enhancement of the roads and the cities. They must be complete by the time the game ends. With these enhancements, Inns double the value of each segment of the road while each tile is used to add one point. The additions of the followers in the game allow a sixth player to be added to the game.
The variation, Traders and Builders allows the addition of new tile types along with two new followers and also allows the trading of good tiles. There are trade goods available in the cities and they are collected by the players who complete the city. They may or may not score it but they help in completing the cities of other people.
Similarly, most of the variations of the game have some changes and additions that can be combined with the original game.
