Each card has two difficulty levels associated with the questions it contains and with questions like “A flat moving part sticking out of the body of a fish” and “A person who repents for wrongdoing”, you can definitely gauge the difference in difficulty among the two. Still finding it easy, huh!!!
Well you can add your own variations to this game and this only is the beauty of the game – you change the rules according to your whims and needs.
Try introducing you own twists to the game – for instance the “Penal Twist” where you penalize the person for blurting the wrong word. Suppose, the dice rolls out to be 5 and the player guesses the word incorrectly. Then the player has to move his pawn in the reverse direction by five places. Or how about “The Bet” where each player bids the least number of words in which he could guess the answer. The person with the lowest bid gets the opportunity to answer but if his answer is not correct then he is detained from playing the next round.
You can even combine the two and make a third change to the way in which the game could be made interesting.
For others who think that they need to temper down the difficulty level, Blurt provides you with that option as well. For instance, the reader may remove the dice and only read out the Definitions on the cards which he thinks would be suitable for his/ her audience. If he is unsure about it, he can just read the first question on the card which has been designed to be the easiest among the rest. Further subsidies can be introduced by allowing the reader to even read out the first letter of the answer. This method can even be adopted by teachers or parents for increasing the student’s vocabulary.
